Justin Tranter, RuPaul & More On LGBTQ Representation in Music

The queer hitmaker collaborated with GLAAD for Transgender Awareness Week.

Recently queer icon Rupaul and country songwriter Shane McAnally sat down with Justin Tranter to create a PSA for more LGBTQ+ representation in the music industry.

As part of GLAAD’s Transgender Awareness Week, the organization teamed up with queer hitmaker Justin Tranter to create a video demanding more LGBTQ inclusion in music. The PSA, out today, features everyone from RuPaul to country songwriter Shane McAnally and members of the Los Angeles Trans Chorus.

“Music spoke to me when I was young in such an intimate, empowering, magical way, and I think that music is already doing that for young queer kids,” says Tranter, who’s written songs for Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez and more. “It can do even more if we just put a little bit of effort.”
