New makeup collection is inspired by queer icon Divine

'We are definitely in production to release a Kat Von D x Divine collection — and it’s going to be fucking awesome'

Kat Von D, the L.A. Ink tattoo artist who has had makeup collections since 2008, recently announced her newest makeup line will be inspired by the iconic Divine.

First teased on Instagram back in June, Von D officially announced the collection in August. And now, we’re getting a first look at some of the products.

The outside of the above eyeshadow palette features Divine’s legendary eyes. Paying homage to her look in John Waters’ 1972 cult film Pink Flamingos, the palette’s image features black winged eyeliner and high-drawn brows.

According to the Washington Post, Waters’ goal was to make Divine look like ‘a cross between busty glamour girl Jayne Mansfield and Clarabell the Clown.’

‘As much as I’m dying to spill the beans, it’s a bit early in the game to give away all details, but yes. We are definitely in production to release a Kat Von D x Divine collection — and it’s going to be fucking awesome,’ Von D told HelloGiggles in August.

Still, there’s no word on when the collection will be released or if it will be sold at Sephora, like Von D’s other products.

Regardless, fans are already super excited by the upcoming collection.
