Queer Zine Taking Gender-Fluid Issue to Erotic Extremes

Zayn gets pegged by Gigi, and a lot more.

When Vogue made Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid the faces of gender fluidity with their August issue, Chicago-based Zain Curtis (AKA Teen Witch Fan Club) decided he’d create a Queer zine with the same cover stars. But instead of showing the couple swapping menswear and womenswear—a lazy attempt at genderless fashion—the artist depicted them in queer, erotic portraits that play with gender and sexuality in authentic ways.

“I wanted to do a parody of the Vogue photoshoot as if it was more intimate and extreme, Curtis told OUT. “I enjoyed the controversy over the article because it broadcasted a new term to a lot of their mainstream audience. Fluidity should not be seen as a trend, but there to explore gender, sexuality and to have fun with the multitudes of both. This wasn’t saying this is the correct way to present gender fluidity, just my spin on it.”

The cover of Curtis’ project simply recreates Vogue’s original, with an updated title, “Fluid,” and the statement, “G & Z Get Radical.” Inside, things get wonderfully NSFW, as Hadid is illustrated pegging Malik naked on a bed, much to the former One Directioner’s smiling delight. In another image, he’s shown wearing only a corset, flirty heels and thigh-high stockings, which he dons with pride, staring confidently into the camera.

Only 500 hand-numbered copies of Curtis’ DIY Fluid zine will be made. Check out a preview, below, and purchase yours, here.
