Roy Moore Supporters Are OK With Alleged Child Molestation, But Not Gay Marriage

MSNBC contributor Sam Stein pointed out the hypocrisy on Morning Joe.

As Republicans continue twisting themselves into pretzels trying to decide what to do about accused child molester Roy Moore, at least one person is pointing out the gross hypocrisy of his supporters. With a fifth woman coming forward with allegations of sexual assault against the congressional candidate, Moore held a campaign rally in his home state of Alabama.

During this event, the alleged molester of teenagers not only had real people show up to support him, but also had a moment of applause for Moore when he mentioned his aversion to gay marriage. Only a month ago, he said that the gay marriage ruling was “even worse” than 1857 pro-slavery decision and, at the campaign event, he brought up once again how awful it is for two happy gay people to get married to each other.

This ridiculous double-standard caught the attention of MSNBC contributor Sam Stein, who went on Morning Joe to talk about the hypocrisy of supporting an accused child molester but being staunchly opposed to gay marriage. “I just don’t understand where the moral thread is here,” he asked. “How could you be comfortable with accusations of child molestation but not gay marriage?”

Watch the entire exchange here and remember that in some parts of America, people would rather have someone be accused of raping a teenager than see gay people get married.
